FAQs

What is the Renovation Roadmap™?

The Renovation Roadmap is a unique 8-step system that takes the mystery (and the fear) out of the remodeling process. It provides all the resources you need to manage your renovation project, puts you in control and empowers you to make the changes you need so you and your family can love your space again. With the Renovation Roadmap you become a partner with your contractor versus an adversary.

What are the different steps in the Renovation Roadmap?

Think of the Renovation Roadmap as a road with 8 steps along the journey. By following each stage in the process, we give you all the tools, tips and resources you need for a successful renovation project from selecting and interviewing contractors, developing a scope of work, design considerations, sample floor plans, budgeting tools and advice, material and selection guidelines, and sample contracts. You can start and stop your journey anywhere along the way, save forms you have created, print them out to discuss with your contractor, or come back to your project at any time.

How does the Renovation Roadmap save me money?

A third of renovating homeowners exceed their budgets, spending at least 1.5 times more than those who come in at budget or who have no budget in the first place. [Source: 2016 Houzz & Home Report]

Following the Renovation Roadmap as designed helps you avoid costly overruns by giving you the keys to understanding why they happen in the first place. When you understand the causes and are given the tools and resources to avoid them, the cost savings can be significant.

Can I sign up for a Free Trial?

When you become a member you gain immediate access to design expertise and community support along with access to all 8 steps of the process. This includes all of the resources we offer including sample contracts, scope of work, checklists, tip sheets and other industry best practice documentation and recommendations we offer. For this reason, we do not offer a free trial period. You can, however, cancel your subscription at any time.

What is your refund policy?

Once you subscribe to the Renovation Roadmap, you gain immediate access to all 8 steps of the process and all the resources we offer including sample contracts, scope of work, checklists, tip sheets and other industry best practice documentation and recommendations. These tools are not available through any other product on the market. For this reason, we do not offer a refund.

Does the Renovation Roadmap provide design blueprints?

The Renovation Roadmap is not a design tool. We provide you with best practice advice and tips on how to work with a qualified design professional or contractor but we do not create design blueprints. However, we do provide sample floor plans for you to review and guide you through examples of how you might consider changing your floor plan and how to get creative in your options (while sticking to your budget!)

What is the “Community” section?

Want to get input from other Homeowners just like you? Get a professional to weigh in on your design dilemmas? That’s what the Community Section is all about! You can upload photos of your space or post a question. Got advice on someone else’s project? Join in the conversation and provide your input. Think of the community section as your on-line group of fellow renovation obsessed friends!

Note: By posting photos and commenting online, you abide by the terms of the Renovation Roadmap end user agreement. Inappropriate images, text or selling of services in the community section violate the terms of use and will result in termination of membership without a refund.

What is the “Live” section?

As part of your subscription to the Renovation Roadmap, you have access to monthly live events. Join us for webinars featuring Mina Fies, guest speakers and other industry professionals on a variety of topics and renovation challenges.
